About Us

Dr Henry Murdoch is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals NHS Trust, and is Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia at Tetbury Hospital.

He has a specialist interest in Peri-operative Medicine and established the first dedicated intravenous iron service for NHS patients undergoing surgery in Gloucestershire.

Dr Murdoch has been Principal Investigator for research into the effects and treatment of anaemia in patients undergoing surgery. He has chaired meetings and seminars on the effects of iron deficiency anaemia, and frequently presents on this subject. He regularly sees first-hand the impact of iron deficiency anaemia on patients undergoing surgery as well as the benefits of intravenous iron replacement and feels passionately about the effectiveness of this treatment and its benefits.

Gloucestershire Iron Clinic is run within the outpatient department of Tetbury Hospital.
