Initial consultation
Consultation with a specialist medical consultant to review test results.
They will also explore potential causes of iron deficiency, discuss infusion options and develop a treatment plan.
Flexible phone/video consultation options are available.
Standard dose iron infusion therapy
Full treatment with 1,000mg of medically prescribed intravenous iron.
A treatment dose of intravenous iron will be given as an infusion over 30 minutes in a safe, monitored and comfortable environment by your specialist medical consultant.
Top-up infusion therapy
If you have had an infusion with Gloucestershire Iron Clinic within the last 12 months we may offer a top-up without consultation.
Any significant medical issues within this time may require a consultation appointment to ensure a further infusion is appropriate.
Additional iron infusion therapy
In addition to a standard iron infusion therapy dose.
You may be offered a larger treatment dose, depending on the cause of your iron deficiency and determined by your weight.
This would be your choice as it would incur an additional charge to cover the drug cost.

We can combine the consultation and infusion into a single convenient visit.
Your blood results will have been reviewed in advance to ensure an infusion is appropriate prior to booking the appointment.
You will then receive detailed information about the infusion prior to the visit.
Good to know.
The cause of your deficiency
Gloucestershire Iron Clinic is not responsible for investigating the underlying cause of iron deficiency; however, we will always offer advice and have referral pathways to specialists if required.
Cancellations
Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be subject to the full cost of the consultation and/or treatment.
Time to feel yourself again.
We offer a complimentary review of your blood results and symptoms to determine whether Iron Therapy is appropriate for you.
Our patient-centred approach looks beyond a single blood-test result and takes a holistic approach to your symptoms, medical history and iron status.
