I had a very positive experience with the Gloucestershire Iron Clinic after years of low ferritin levels which left me unable to function. On the day of my iron infusion Dr. Sophie Scutt talked me through the process and answered my questions thoroughly. The infusion itself was quick, and less invasive than having a blood test. I have been impressed by the follow up care provided by Gloucestershire Iron Clinic in the form of a letter explaining treatment given and recommendations to help manage iron levels going forward, as well as a check in during the months after to check iron levels post infusion and to see how I am feeling. I have a lot more energy now! Thank you.

As others have said before me, the difference these iron infusion make to those of us with low ferratin levels is invaluable. Particularly when the NHS will only prescribe oral supplements to help you. For anyone with IBS these supplements are a nightmare only making symptoms worse. I needed 2 separate infusions at the Iron Clinic over a year to get my consistently low levels to a nice 'normal' level. This has been helpful in a) increasing my overall energy levels and b) getting more accurate diagnosis of other conditions which had been masked/ignored before because of the consistently low levels. I was previously told by NHS doctors that I would just have to accept my low levels. Thankfully, Dr Murdoch disagrees with that notion and I am grateful that he and his team made the process so accessible and thorough. Do go, if you need to.

I had such a great experience at the Iron Clinic in Gloucester. My ferritin level was hovering at 2. I was very poorly but getting no help from my GP. Allergic to oral iron supplements it was stripping me of life. I came to the iron clinic out of desperation. Sheer desperation. Within 48 hours I could physically feel things changing. No longer aching or creaking, my skin and face looked less puffy. Within 2 weeks my palpitations and tinnitus had stopped. Brain fog lifted, burning feet and hot skin was gone. Energy started to come back. Sleep was better, low mood improved because I no longer felt like I was dying. (Not being dramatic I really felt that poorly). Bursitis vanished, my eyesight improved as my eyes were no longer dry. My hair stopped falling out. Full marks to Dr. Murdoch for providing this invaluable service. The iron infusion certainly works as my previously severely depleted iron levels are now back to normal, and as an added bonus my blood sugar levels have decreased from a sky high level to a near normal level as a consequence of the improved Haemoglobin level. In addition Dr. Murdoch instantly put me at ease and explained the whole procedure to me.

Excellent service from start to finish. I finally feel I have answers and a treatment plan after years of being turned away from the GP, referrals declined and being told my iron levels were ‘satisfactory’ (even when at a level of 16 and under). I’m 2 weeks post infusion and am starting to feel some noticeable changes, fingers crossed this continues. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

Having had low ferritin for years (and no success with NHS despite oral supplementation yielding zero results) I took the plunge and had an infusion here. My goodness! It has been nothing short of life-changing. If you’re in doubt, my only advice would be to just do it! I feel ten years younger. Booked in after not getting anywhere with my GP and not happy with the process of iron tablets and side effects. So easy to book in and got an appointment within a week of enquiring. It was a quick and easy process and looking forward to feeling the benefits very soon!

I’ve been struggling with low iron for many years, but as my ferritin levels have been around 15 doctors have never done anything to help. Dr Murdoch ran through all the ways low iron impacts my day to day and everything started to make sense. Not only low energy (amongst a number of things), but also low mood which I’ve really struggled with. After a couple of weeks I started to notice a real change and I’ve found myself feeling so much better, including the grey cloud hovering over me being lifted - I feel like I’ve got my spark back.I couldn’t recommend this enough to anyone struggling!

I was seen by Dr Sophie Scutt. My experience at the iron clinic was exceptional. Sophie was very professional, kind and informative. I felt at ease throughout my consultation and treatment. An amazing experience with the iron clinic. Dr Henry Murdoch was extremely knowledgeable and the whole process felt really seamless; he answered all of our questions and the infusion itself took 30 minutes with no pain/reaction. I am really feeling the benefits now too! My ferritin went from 7 to 104 when I tested 3 months later. I wish I had known the different it would make, especially in terms of my energy levels and psychiatric symptoms.

I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough.After struggling hugely with very low ferritin levels for a long time, I finally bit the bullet and decided an iron infusion was the only solution given 12 months of tablets that did nothing. I was so relieved to find this clinic after a Google! Not only was the treatment itself professional and efficient, but the support and advice I received afterwards has helped me take control of my iron and stay on top of it going forward.Henry took the time to discuss possible causes of my iron deficiency, including heavy periods, and recommended tranexamic acid, which has made a huge difference. Great service, I was seen within a couple of days and given an iron infusion. I had a few days of feeling a tiny bit fluey but otherwise have felt almost instantly better with more energy. I would highly recommend Dr Murdoch’s clinic. Wish I had done it sooner!

Dr Murdoch was kind, knowledgeable, and very approachable throughout my treatment. He took the time to answer all of my questions and gave me a much better understanding of why my ferritin levels were so low. Nearly three months after my iron infusion, I would not hesitate to recommend The Gloucestershire Iron Clinic. My symptoms have improved significantly, and although the treatment was a considerable expense, it has been worth every penny. I came along with my wife for her iron infusion today. We found Dr Murdoch very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer any questions we had regarding the process! My wife said he was very informative and his duty of care was second to none with no hesitation in making her feel at ease throughout the process!

I had an iron infusion at The Iron Clinic in March 2026. If you have any doubts about having one, please don’t. I have suffered from low ferritin levels my whole life and I just wish I’d found the clinic sooner. I feel much better since the infusion, not instantly life changing but day by day seeing improvements. Dr Murdoch was very nice, explaining everything and discussing any concerns.

The hour long appointment with Dr Murdoch far exceeded my expectations, such a great investment in my health. He did a detailed medical history with me and was able to explain all the contributing factors to my extremely low ferritin levels, and explain why I have been feeling unwell for a number of years. He also offered treatment advice for other symptoms, and gave me a plan for monitoring and managing my iron levels. He also sent me a detailed 2 page letter summarising everything which I can share with my GP. The infusion was straightforward and I felt well during and afterwards. I can’t recommend the process highly enough, I just wish I had done it much sooner!

After years and years of suffering with low ferritin and my GP telling me everything was fine (ferritin levels between 14-21). I decided I’d had enough and wanted an iron IV. I found The Gloucestershire Iron Clinic on google and booked the IV. The booking process with really straight forward and all my questions were answered via email. I travelled from Bristol and had the IV last Wednesday with Dr Henry Murdoch. We talked through my past blood results and I was advised on how to maintain my new iron levels going forwards. It was a very simple process and I felt very comfortable during the IV. I am on day 6 post IV and I feel amazing. I felt a little groggy for two days about 48 hours after and now I can already feel improvements. My eyesight is sharper, my head feels clearer and I feel like my energy levels are improving. I highly recommend The Gloucestershire Iron Clinic.

Very thorough service, highly recommended. My blood tests didn’t qualify me for an NHS iron infusion so I sent the result to this clinic and they confirmed I was iron-deficient. Easy booking process and very helpful admin. Dr Henry is clearly very knowledgeable in his specialism (anaesthetist) and knows everything there is to know about iron deficiency and how it manifests. Hugely reassuring and the process is completely comfortable. I was worried about getting the side-effects that some people experience but I didn’t get any fall-out at all. Wish I had done it years ago!

I don't usually leave reviews but I am genuinely amazed at what the iron infusion has done for me. I feel like it's saved my life, brought me back to myself after struggling for 2 years. Iron infusions should be more available via the NHS, and scores of women should not be left so vastly undersupported. But since they're currently not available, I am so glad Mr Murdoch's service exists - he was kind, generous with his time and answered all my many questions. The infusion was fine, I had iron flu after but it was 100% worth it. If you have low iron, are struggling with exhaustion and other symptoms, and can afford it, I recommend this wholeheartedly.

Simple to book and attend. In the consultation Henry Murdoch asks about your health to determine the cause of low iron, 39 blood donations in my case. Insert the needle into your arm and drips the iron in. It takes thirty minutes. It is a transformational restoration of Ferritin levels from 46 to 164. The health benefits took about eight weeks to show for energy levels. Aerobic capacity improved in three days, when I swam forty length and did not get breathless after twenty five, as before. My body was so drained of iron from the donations that it took longer to recover.Between 2023 and 2025 the GP prescribed Ferrous Fumarate tablets over 15 months which raised Ferritin from 20 to 48, which is not sufficient and too slow, I had constantly asked for help to be told, the iron levels are not the reason for the fatigue. Iron rich foods do not restore iron stores, only supplementation.

I spent a lot of time wondering whether to pay for a private iron infusion having had trouble with my iron levels for years. My experience here was fantastic and I'm pleased to say about 5 weeks after my treatment my head cleared, my sleep improved and I have more stable energy levels. I would recommend this to anyone with iron deficiency.

Extremely easy to book and reassuring that it was attached to a hospital. Dr H Murdoch instantly made me feel at ease and explained the process and the effects of iron deficiency on my body in great detail. The process was quick and personal and I felt reassured and supported throughout the whole procedure. Can’t thank him enough. I would highly recommend the clinic.

My husband attended the clinic in January and we found the process seamless and very efficient. Dr Murdoch is very approachable and we found the consultation informative. The infusion was painless and my husband reports the muscle cramps and spasms have now gone and the fatigue is much improved. We would definitely return to the clinic if needed in the future.

I was feeling extremely unwell - fatigue, flu like symptoms, shakiness, palpitations, raised blood pressure and severe tinnitus.Since my iron infusion 7 weeks ago I have made steady progress and am now feeling much better and can get on with my life.The whole process has been very efficient. My recent experience of an iron infusion at the iron clinic was very positive. The consultation was very informative and the procedure was clearly explained so that I knew what to expect both during and after the infusion. I gained a good understanding of iron deficiency and any questions I had in the weeks after were promptly dealt with and offered reassurance.

I visited the clinic (after various discussions with Katie, who was incredibly helpful), after I had a home Ferratin test which suggested my levels were very low, probably as a result of three major leg operations (and I am apparently a poor absorber). I was feeling awful - awful bone-deep coldness even in a very hot house, exhausted, moody, headaches, just generally lousy. My ferratin was 19.5 and my saturation was low.I was at the end of my tether after two GPs refused to refer me to a specialist ('well, yeah, it's low but only just, so that's OK, and you're not anaemic'). I found The Iron Clinic online and they did an initial review of my results, which confirmed a diagnosis of Iron Deficiency Without Anaemia (IDWA), so I booked for a formal consult/infusion.Dr Murdoch was fantastic, clearly extremely knowledgeable and spent a great deal of time explaining why my low Ferratin was likely causing my symptoms and discussing future monitoring etc. Listened to and answered all of my questions. Then had the infusion - easy and painless. No side effects other than a really warm glow inside for about two hours (which I was very grateful for after being so cold for so long!).It's 10 weeks since my infusion, and I am probably about 90% back to normal, the cold feeling went within a few weeks, fatigue etc., took a bit longer. Apparently some people feel benefits in days, others weeks.Will be having my Iron levels tested again in a few weeks and arranging a follow-up to see if I need another smaller infusion to get my levels where they need to be, but in any case, the improvement has been dramatic. My quality of life was very much affected before this infusion.If you're having the symptoms associated with Iron deficiency, and especially if you are getting fobbed off by GPs, I would not hesitate to recommend The Iron Clinic 🙂

I would thoroughly recommend using the clinic's iron infusion services. The process of booking the appointment was easy. Dr Murdoch explored on the day potential deficiency causes, ways to prolong the benefits of the infusion, and any potential side effects. Overall, I received an excellent care level.Post 3 months update - feeling better: no breathlessness, reduced fatigue & aches, less hair loss & feeling happier.

Highly recommend a consultation! Gain a better understanding of what's happening with your iron levels from a specialist (in my case iron deficiency without anaemia). 3 months later level is 192, and other iron indicators improved. Feeling reborn! My personal opinion is NHS need to hurriedly review how they diagnosing. I'm sure many are using NHS health resources multiple times and also leading to other avoidable health conditions.

After 9 years of extremely low ferritin, I didn’t realise how unwell I’d been until after my iron infusion.I lived with crushing fatigue and constant heart palpitations and was repeatedly told my levels were “fine” and that it was probably anxiety. I started to believe that being exhausted, wired and overwhelmed was just my personality.A month after my infusion, the fatigue is gone and the palpitations have completely stopped. The “anxiety” symptoms have disappeared. I feel calm, clear and like myself again for the first time in nearly a decade.Dr Murdoch was kind, very professional, thorough and truly listened. I finally felt taken seriously.I’m incredibly grateful and would highly recommend the clinic to anyone who feels something isn’t right but keeps being told they’re “normal.”

Highly recommend!! I was told by my GP that my iron levels were fine but after visiting the Gloucestershire Iron Clinic I was informed I have an absolute iron deficiency. Having the iron infusion has completely changed my life for the better!The booking process was easy and Dr Murdoch is exceptional. He took the time to explain how the infusion worked and we discussed my symptoms. After years of being dismissed by doctors I finally felt listened to. Throughout the whole process he has been kind and reassuring and I can’t thank him and his team enough.

Great experience. Katie and Dr Murdoch were both fab. Booking was straightforward and pricing made clear. On the day of my appointment everything was explained to me in detail, which I appreciated. The infusion itself went well, and even though I'm always told I have small or disappearing veins this was no issue at all. I was fine during the infusion and drove home. I did however come up in hives all over my body after about 1.5 hours. I believe it's pretty unusual to have a delayed reaction like this, but I was reassured by the clinic who checked in with me frequently over the next few days to make sure I was OK. They also made sure that I knew what to do if my symptoms worsened or if I experienced other symptoms etc. Would highly recommend and would return if I needed to.

I wanted to add this review because my experience at the Iron Clinic was fantastic.I was suffering with extremely low iron since giving birth and complications postpartum, and treatment prescribed to me was making little to no difference. I reached out to Gloucester Iron Clinic who were extremely helpful and the iron infusion has honestly been life changing for me. I felt so poorly for 16 months post birth and felt so much better after just a few weeks post infusion.The whole process was simple, and after reaching out, had an appointment within a matter of weeks. On the day, the infusion went really well, and Dr Murdoch took the time to explain my previous blood results to me, possible causes and future actions. I really felt listened to at the clinic, and learned more about my condition and its effects in that hour than I had in more than anywhere else I had reached out for help.

I have just had my first ever iron infusion at the Gloucestershire Iron clinic and honestly it can’t of gone any smoother. Henry explained everything in minute detail and then he stays with you the whole time. The infusion itself only takes half hour and is completely painless. I would have no hesitation in recommending this clinic if you found yourself needing an iron infusion.

My experience of the Gloucestershire Iron Clinic was excellent....from the initial contact to attending the appointment with Dr Murdoch, everything was really smooth and easy. He took the time to talk through my symptoms and ferritin levels and explain how the infusion worked - it was quick and easy and he was very kind and reassuring. I had the infusion in June having been experiencing some horrible symptoms such as extreme fatigue, breathlessness, feeling cold all the time and struggling to think clearly. My ferritin levels were very low as explained by Dr Murdoch and since the infusion I honestly feel like a different person. I have so much more energy, and feel so much more like myself, I had no idea how much the low iron was affecting me even though my GP had told me it was ok, I wish I had the infusion years ago after suffering with low iron for many years. What a fantastic clinic!I had a great experience with the Gloucestershire Iron Clinic. Booking was really easy and I got an appointment very quickly.Tetbury hospital was easy to get to, there was free parking and the reception staff were lovely.Dr Murdoch was great. He was friendly, kind, and took time to explain everything properly. He asked lots of questions to really get to the bottom of the problem and gave me clear guidance on how to avoid iron depletion in the future.The iron infusion itself was quick, easy and painless. There was also a really helpful follow-up letter to send to my GP afterwards.I’d thoroughly recommend this service.

I went to the iron clinic with a Ferritin level of 10 (!), no action from my GP and a two year history of body aches and exhaustion after pregnancy and a c section. I tolerated the infusion really well, although I did have side effects two days later which weren’t very nice, but manageable and only lasted 24 hours.It took me about 6 weeks to feel better, which is longer than normal but I tried to be patient. And i was rewarded! I have been 6 weeks now with no symptoms and my most recent blood tests show a ferritin level of 121 three months later !Absolutely highly recommend, worth every penny.Such a professional service too. Can’t thank you all enough.

Dr Murdoch provided me with excellent care regarding my consultation and iron infusion. He made sure I knew the reason as to why my iron was so low but also made sure that I understood how it happened and how the human body works when absorbing/losing iron. I felt safe and comfortable during the infusion. Would highly recommend to anyone who is struggling or looking for answers with their low iron or are needing an infusion that they unfortunately do not qualify for within the NHS.
